A Child’s Tale

I recently saw the musical, “A Bronx Tale” a story of a young boy who gets involved in organized  crime. I usually avoid plays or movies containing violence but a friend asked me to go with her so I thought, how bad could it be? And it really wasn’t too bad at all, especially since I averted my eyes when needed.

But there was one early scene where a man was shot and the unexpected sound of the gun was a jolt to my system. I got over it very quickly but it really made me wonder about the effect that gun shot has on the nine year old actor in the scene. As part of the traveling troupe, he is exposed to that gun shot over and over again. Yes, of course he knows this is just a play but what about his subconscious that doesn’t distinguish between real and imaginary?

I suppose the same is for all the violent video games the kids play for hours these days and have been playing for years now. Kudos to the parents who are realizing the detrimental effect this is having on our children. One parent, a police officer, told me his boys are only allowed to play sports video games. He has seen too much. He told me these violent games are not only shaping our children but our society as well.

I often think of information I read somewhere along the line of how an advanced spiritual  society raises their children. (Sorry that I don’t have the source.) They take great care to insure that the children stay in the highest vibrations by only allowing high frequency words and thoughts to come into the children’s environment.

I wonder what our world will be like if we also adopt this practice with our children? As open sponges, children absorb the energies around them so yes, just as they are affected by our emotions they are affected by our thoughts and words which are pure energy. With so many of today’s children being telepathic, even more reason to be aware of what we are transmitting.

I know this is easier said than done as monitoring our thoughts and words takes practice. But just taking the step of  becoming aware of our thoughts and words (with no judgement) can make a huge difference!  What a beautiful gift of Love for our children! And what a beautiful ending to this tale! Or maybe I should say, a beautiful beginning…
