Heart to Heart with a Bird

When the bird first showed up in our backyard, I just loved looking at her! She was such a beautiful shade of brown almost close to an orange color. I had never seen a bird like her on our property so I knew she was a special visitor.  I learned later that she is a Brown Thrasher.

When she began building a nest in  the same tree where baby birds hatched two years ago my husband and I were so excited!  We were going to be grandparents again!

But she wasn’t about to let me get close to her nest as the last mother bird did. In fact, she wasn’t going to let anyone near what she claimed as her territory which included a small deck my husband and I like to sit on. The father bird joined her anytime we would come close chasing us away.

One day, my husband had enough. He was going to sit on the deck, birds or no birds! Well, they didn’t let him have a minute’s peace,  swooping over him like fighter planes! He retreated.

Okay, I was going to take matters into my own hands!  And that meant telling the mother bird I was sorry for peeking at her nest one day. I had thought it was safe to look as I saw her out in the yard.  But when a bird inside the tree screamed at me I learned there were two birds, not just one.

In order  to make amends I would need  to connect to the mother,  heart to heart.  So that is exactly what I did. I sent a love connection from my heart to hers and told her I was sorry for getting too close to the nest.  Then I walked outside radiating Love from my heart to both birds. I walked slowly to the deck and just stood still on it.

Here is a video of what happened. I was standing right in front of the bird.

I am allowed to go on the deck now and even get close to the tree. But I haven’t tried to look at the nest. I don’t want to ruin our new relationship! Maybe I will be lucky and see a baby learning to fly!

I knew the birds had a special message for me especially since they arrived right when everything broke loose with the Corona Virus.  My guidance led me on a google search with  the  following sentences jumping out at me:

“When Brown Thrasher appears to you it is time to sing a joyous song of life and all of the experiences that surround you…. Are you bringing joy and harmony to others? …He will aid in focus and clarity to find balance. His medicine will show how to adapt with a renewed sense of joy….. The time period for Brown Thrasher is about 9 days. Rapid developments await you. He will help keep you grounded so that you may sing the song in your heart.”

With the quarantine and our whole world upside down, adapting has certainly been a theme. And the song in my heart…. well, during this “Time of Pause,” it is becoming clearer and clearer.

Thank you Sweet Birds! I hope  you will consider our yard as your permanent home!

Love,

Lee

Radiating Love is such a beautiful tool to use in any situation.

There are so many ways to radiate Love!  Here is a simple technique I teach to parents:

  1. Set the intention you will Radiate Love from your Heart.
  2. Put your hand on your heart and close your eyes.
  3. Take four slow breaths in and out. Feel as though you are breathing into your heart.
  4. Think of someone you deeply Love such as a child or pet.
  5. Focus on that warm feeling inside your heart.
  6. Radiate that feeling outwards and send it to your Loved One.
  7. You may wish to imagine there are beams of Light radiating from your heart.
  8. You may wish to add the silent words “I Love you, ” or even visualize them written.
  9. However you radiate Love is just perfect!

I’ve been loving the birds during these difficult times. Their beauty amazes me. I am e entertained by their behaviors and how they mimic that of people. I have a large stream that borders my yard and a densely mature wooded area with an adjoining field. It is a bird sanctuary. There calks and songs are a symphony. I see numerous birds from all habitats: red breasted woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, nuthatches, black capped chickadees, gold finches, flickers etc. Today I spotted the large brown thrasher for the first time. I share your joy in being one with the birds. It has been therapeutic during these uncertain times.
